ASUU MAY CALL OFF STRIKE NEXT WEEK

Effect of Asuu Strike

   Academic activities have been on a shutdown at federal universities for four months now and this may surcease next week.
  After the 13 hours meeting between ASUU, NLC, TUC, and the Federal Government heard on Monday, the Vice President of NLC, Issa Aremu spoke at a meeting in Lagos State, saying:

 "I want to commend the Federal Government meeting with Labour on the prolonged ASUU strike and hope this will be the last time we would experience such disruption in our academic history..."

 He noted that although ASUU representatives at the meeting said they had to report back to their members before taking any decision, however, going by ASUU President, Dr. Nasir Isa Fagge words at the end of the meeting, Aremu expressed the optimism that university undergraduates would resume normal studies next week.

 “I hope by next week, university would reopen with the intervention of the NLC. By next week it would all be over,” he continued.

 Earlier this week, ASUU President Dr. Nasir Isa. Fagge said:

 "We have had a lengthy meeting with Mr. President, rubbing minds on how best to address the problem of university education in this country. We now have a message from Mr. President that we are going to take to our members and we are expecting that our members will respond appropriately to his message."

  The Minister of Labour, Chief Emeka Wogu also states that:

  "The President of ASUU told you that they are going back with a message from the Federal Government to their members and the message is full of high expectation and hope. Our prayer is that they will come back with a positive outcome. They might even not come back to meet us. They might take decisions that will meet your expectations."
